RIPE Database Training Course
This course is restricted to RIPE NCC members only.
Description
The RIPE Database training course is a one-day course. We'll make you a capable user of the RIPE Database. Mixing hands-on activities with theory, the course participants will get a comprehensive idea of what the RIPE Database is and what they can do with it. You should attend this training course if you are part of the staff of a Local Internet Registry (LIR) in the RIPE NCC service region, and need to register networks in the RIPE Database.

1. What is the RIPE Database?
- Purpose of the Database, objects, looking for data
2. How does it work?
- Making queries, using flags and options
3. How to update it?
- Maintainers, creating and deleting objects
4. Delegating address space to others
- How to register sub-allocations
5. RIPE Routing Registry
- aut-num and route(6) objects
6. Reverse DNS
- How to request reverse delegation
7. More RIPE Database
- Inverse lookups, Full Text Search, Notifications, RIPE Database Working Group

The course doesn't cover:
- The basics of routing, or any technical routing topics
- How to request IP addresses from the RIPE NCC
- How to operate a Local Internet Registry (LIR)
